New & Now in Hawaii
Floral-focused events, cakes, collections and other fun happenings.

Aloha friend,
It’s been a year—and it’s only mid-January. Amid a few nightmarish weeks, we’re seeing the power of community, and it’s a great reminder to keep sharing what's happening in this community—the special people, brands, neighborhood gems, and style-savvy updates from across the islands.
This week, we stopped to smell the flowers—literally and figuratively—and subsequently found some floral-focused content that made us smile.
In addition, we’re thrilled to see an innovative, inclusive new hula show honoring Kapaemahu debut on Jan. 22 and continue every Wednesday at the hula mound at Kuhio Beach. The free show is educational, culturally meaningful and impactful. Learn more about it in the event section below, where you’ll also find opportunities to celebrate Muumuu Month (and learn a little more about it in Hawaii Magazine).
Cheers,
The Edit Hawaii team

Right now, nothing sounds more magical than a floral workshop in the flower fields on a horse ranch in Upcountry Maui. Nina from Moon & Salt Farm Maui discusses and teaches you how dahlias grow here in Hawaii. Then, you'll take home some fresh blooms, tubers, seeds, and instructions on how to grow your own.
This feels particularly important because Nina and the farm were personally affected by the Maui fires in August 2023. We vividly remember seeing her posts about the situation when it happened, so we’re especially happy to see her and her Olinda farm thrive again.
Speaking of gardens, Gillia just launched the beautiful new collection, Jardin. Expect the brand’s signature simple, feminine silhouettes in soft colors and a subtle, ditsy floral print. The coordinating swimsuits and coverups are effortlessly chic everyday staples and the perfect pieces to pack for your next staycation.
And keeping with the floral theme, we’re sad to announce that Pua Hana—the beloved Kaimuki floral shop that became our go-to for unique last-minute lei, arrangements and cute little gift items—will close the doors to its Kaimuki boutique in early March. However, it will maintain its online presence and continue operating through its sister company, Paiko.

Nadine Loraine’s chocolate rye cake, filled with chocolate ganache, whipped mascarpone, hazelnut praline with a tahini and honey Swiss meringue buttercream. Dripping with lilikoi and Wai Meli Honey. SWOON.
Last but certainly not least, how about these floral-topped cakes from Nadine Loraine on Big Island?! We don’t even care what they taste like, but surely they are equally as amazing as they look. You can order specialty cakes directly or find her creations at Surf Camp in Waimea.
