Spread Aloha to LA, to the World

Thoughts, ways to help, togetherness, and more.

Aloha friends,

As we learn more about the devastation caused by the recent California wildfires, discussing anything else in this week's newsletter doesn't seem right. The situation is eerily similar to the Lahaina fires, whose effects still haunt thousands of people on Maui

We feel so many emotions for those still being affected in Maui, the victims of the Los Angeles fires, the Oahu residents involved in the fireworks explosion, the young firefighter who lost his life in the McCully fire, for Gazans!, for the world. It's all so heavy, heartbreaking, and quite frankly, maddening.

We hang on to the heartwarming moments, seeing humanity come together and "regular" people giving what little they have to someone who needs it more. In such crippling times, we can all lend an ear, stand in solidarity, and perhaps more importantly, speak up, get angry at the systemic issues that put us all in harm’s way and move into action (whatever that looks like for you). No one has, or should have, the luxury to look away.

There's so much we could say and even more to do, but for now, we’ll share Mutual Aid Los Angeles’ list of resources available for those affected and how you can volunteer and donate.

We also still included our list of local events because enriching experiences and togetherness are as important as ever.

Take care of yourself and each other,
