This & That, April Edition

Live stream Merrie Monarch, Versace x Hawaii, events & more.

Aloha friend,

I don’t know about you, but we have serious FOMO in regards to Merrie Monarch festivities, specifically the Ola Hilo event. But fear not, you can live stream the festival itself here. The next performance is scheduled for tonight at 6pm HST.

Below, we’re highlighting a few other things you’re going to want to know, and events you’ll want to attend.

A hui hou April,
The Edit Hawaii team

  • Flamingo Estate’s spring 2025 seasonal subscription box is an ode to the islands. Founder Richard Christiansen sheds light on the fact that Hawai‘i currently imports close to 90% of its food, despite being home to some of the most fertile soil in the world. He suggests that Hawaii could become a community-driven food system might look like, and offers the box as a small tribute to some of the growers here.

  • Sadly, The Barn 808 officially closes the doors to its Hanalei boutique this weekend. You can shop and raise a glass one last time on Sunday, April 27, from 4-6.

  • We’re sharing a Mother’s Day gift guide next week, but here’s some scoop for now: Maris Pearl is having a Mother’s Day Sale offering 15% off real pearls from Hawai’i with code: MOTHER. And HIE is hosting a May Day event on May 1 with Radio Hula, a Lei Aloha book signing with author (and HIE cofounder) Meleana, and special pricing on jewelry at Kaimana Beach Hotel.

  • Maui Wine recently released its 2024 Syrah Rosé. It’s dry with notes of watermelon and fresh white peach. If you’re on Maui, try it at the tasting room in Kula — in case you need an excuse for a girls day.
