Kauai’s beloved community marketplace, Warehouse 3540, now features a refill station for zero waste. CLEAN.KAUAI, inside the sustainable goods shop Hawaii Says Hi, encourages the community to BYOB (bring your own bottle) or purchase a reusable glass one on the spot and fill up on all-purpose sprays, dish and hand soaps, etc. The small business supports both local Hawaii makers and fair-trade artisans, and curates its products with the motto “live clean.”

Protea Zero Waste
After launching online and selling at farmers’ markets, the doors to the brick and mortar boutique for this zero waste shop finally opened in Kailua. Much to the delight of residents, here, you can bring your own clean containers (or purchase one at the store) to fill with dish soap, laundry detergent, all-purpose cleaner, skincare and more. Not to mention, the space is as beautiful as the concept, thanks, in part, to custom made furnishings by Oahu-based craftsman The Splinter Concept. Plus, Protea’s founder Lori is environmentalist and policy advocate, making her a true leader in the fight for our island communities and our planet.

Twin sisters took it upon themselves to start this eco-conscious shop after realizing the state of our planet and the devastating effects it could have on its inhabitants. The online shop stocks the beloved Hawaii-based brands like Bee’s Cotton Wraps and sunscreen from Little Hands Hawaii, and you’ll also find every day essentials such as shampoo bars and stainless steel razors, as well as unique items like bamboo boba straws.
