SUMMER SIPS: HAWAII'S HARD SELTZERS
Though Hawaii’s tropical climate stays relatively consistent throughout the year, there’s still a distinctly special feeling when the summer months roll around. A six-pack of hard seltzer is the latest must-have in your cooler and, luckily for us, a few of Hawaii‘s favorite brewing companies have hopped on the hard seltzer trend. Locally sourced ingredients make mouthwatering flavors full of island flair. Think POG (passion fruit, orange, guava), Hawaiian ginger, dragon fruit and the like. We’re confident the hard seltzers brewed here in Hawaii will be your new favorite summer sips.
Kona’s Island Spiked Seltzers
The Hawaii Island brewery known for their craft beers—such as Longboard Island Lager and Big Wave Golden Ale—has added spiked seltzers to their beloved lineup. The four distinctly Hawaii flavors include Passion Orange Guava, Strawberry Guava, Starfruit Lime and Tropical Punch. Kona Brewing Co.’s Spiked Island Seltzers are perfect for sipping in the sun, and, bonus, the fruity favorites are actually sugar free. We’re also partial to the tropical-print cans.
Ola Hard Seltzer
Crisp and clean flavors of ginger, lemongrass and lime are the stars of Ola Brew Co.’s spiked seltzer line. The Hawaiian Ginger tastes just like ginger beer—full bodied with a bit of a spicy kick—without all the sugar. I see healthy(ish) Moscow Mules in the future. The Lemon-Lime is a classic flavor made with macerated Tahitian limes and Meyer lemons grown locally on the Big Island.
Maui Hard Seltzer
Aside from their well-known island brewed beers, Maui Brewing Co. also has a collection of sodas; Hawaii’s first locally made, ready-to-enjoy canned cocktails (launched in 2019); and, now, hard seltzers. The debut line, launched in January 2020, features sugar-free spiked sparkling waters hit with a hint of natural flavors like POG, Dragon Fruit and Citrus, perfect for your next beach BBQ.
